Wenner-Gren ICRG Project

After I complete my dissertation research, I will be collaborating in a research project with Dr. Michael Shott and Dr. José Luis Lanata funded by a Wenner-Gren Foundation International Collaborative Research Grant (ICRG). The project, "High-Latitude Hunter-Gatherers North and South: Variation and Adaptation in the Patagonian and Great Basin Holocene," will undertake a comparison of the Late Pleistocene and Holocene records of these two areas. It will constitute the first extensive test of formal models using a time-averaged approach to hunter-gatherer accumulations, in two cold-sesert locales at once, as a further measure of their robusticity.

I will collaborate with the researchers in the field research, as well as by conducting provenance analysis using the geochemical technique of Laser Ablation-Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) to determine the elemental composition of obsidian tools for sourcing to quarries.
